Manage your pre and post care instructions

Care instructions are sent out automatically to patients based on the type of appointment that was booked. There are documents available with instructions that Portrait created which can be used by all EHR users, but you may also customize your own

To modify the pre-care and post-care instructions that are sent out for an appointment type, from your Admin dashboard you must navigate to Services > Create "New Service Group" > Scroll down to "Care instructions" > Click "New"


The next screen will allow you to:

  1. Assign a Name to this document with pre and post care instructions, which you will find afterwards in the Documents section (upper right corner dropdown in Admin dashboard).

    Here's how the Care messages section under "Documents" will look:



  2. Create pre care instructions with your customized wording.
  3. Create post care instructions with your customized wording.





    When in the Appointment types section, when creating the options that a patient will see available to book an appointment, you will be able to attach to the appointment type both pre care instructions and post care instructions messages, as seen in the screenshot.


    These care instructions that were attached are sent out automatically to patients based on the type of appointment that was booked.
