Checkout A Client With Care Credit

Here's how to navigate the checkout process for a client who wants to use Care Credit.

Care Credit is a credit card designed to provide financing for consumers paying  for out-of-pocket healthcare expenses.

Once you are approved, you can use it again and again to help manage health, wellness and beauty costs not covered by insurance. Care Credit is an accepted form of payment by Portrait Health and providers.

• Processing a transaction with Care Credit
  • You will follow the above steps by checking the patient out through the EHR. 
  • Once you click on the “Charge” Button, the next page will prompt you to put the specified amount in the Care Credit box.
  • You will then need to open the Care Credit website on a separate tab and log in:
    https://www.carecreditprovidercenter.com/portal/login
  • Once logged in, you will select the “Purchase” option to run a transaction.
  • The option to input the account number will come up! You will just need the card number, card security code and expiration date.
    • IF the patient does not have their card with them on hand, all you’ll have to do is select “Account Lookup” and there are a few options depending on the information they’re willing to provide. 
      • First name, Last name, Phone Number, Date of Birth
      • Social Security Number

• Once the patient has been found in the system, we will proceed to processing the transaction.
• Input the transaction amount and select the name of the patient.
  • Note: Sometimes there are more than one name on the account. Make sure you are selecting the correct name. 

• Under the Program Name drop down, select “Care Credit”.
• You do not need to write anything under Patient/Client ID.

• Once the “Program Name” is selected, a new box will appear requesting you to select how many months deferred without interest. This will depend on the amount that is being processed. 
  • 6 Months no interest - $200-$999
  • 12 Months no interest - $1000-$1999
  • 18 Months no interest - $2000 and up
  • 24 Months no interest - $2000 and up (Maximum) 

• Go ahead and click “Submit” and the transaction will be processed!
