"Charge with Square" checkout option - Processing POS payments

The EHR checkout has three options: Cash, Card on file and Charge with Square.

The first two are processed through the EHR. The third option "Charge with Square" is only available when processing a transaction through an iPad, as it uses the Square POS app installed in it so that you can swipe, insert or tap a card with the reader that you've connected via Bluetooth to the iPad.

If the EHR isn't connecting properly to your Square POS app, you must ensure that:

  1. You are doing this on iPad, the "Charge with Square" option only works on iPad, not on a computer.

  2. Double tap the Home button of the iPad too see all open apps and then swipe up the Square POS app to fully close it.

  3. Re-open the app and make sure you log in with the user you have under Portrait's account, if you use a personal Square account it will not connect to the EHR.

As long as all these steps are being followed, when you tap "Charge with Square" in the EHR checkout, you will be re-directed from the browser to the Square POS app on your iPad.
